Who Are We?

In June 1983, the present owners of Shell Title Company took possession of the over 100-year-old business. At that time the Company purchased the only two complete sets of tract books in Polk Count. Services offered then were updating abstracts (being the largest part of the business), with a small percentage being title reports and title insurance. Since then, the business has steadily grown and progressed. Title insurance has emerged as being much more convenient and expeditious in comparison to abstracts, and the insurance is used in the majority of land transfers and mortgages. Shell Title writes title insurance for First American Title Insurance and Fidelity National Title Insurance. January 1988 brought the first real estate closings at Shell title and this service has been well received by our customers. 1995 was a busy year at Shell Title. Our office in Bolivar doubled in size and has a remodeling job. Also, the company began using a Novell network customized computer program. The program enables us to do almost everything involved with orders by computer. On the computer, we post and do title searches, do title insurance work, run closing documents, and print escrow and closing checks. This has made the work more efficient. A branch office was established at Hermitage, Hickory County, Missouri in March 1995. This office is an extension of the Bolivar Office and offers the same services - title insurance and closings. Throughout the years, the Company has tried to greet customers with a smile, while producing top quality work. The business has always stood behind the work produced and believes that is "as it should be." We look forward to serving you while keeping pace with the future.
